The History of GOSHI-SHUN

Grandmaster William Wilson (RIP)

Grandmaster William Wilson (10th Dan)

Grandmaster William Wilson introduced Goshi-Shun karate to the United States in 1952. He began studying martial arts while in the Gifu Prefecture region of Japan, during the post-WWII US Military occupation. He achieved the rank of Fifth Dan before he opened a martial arts dojo (place of training) in the United States of America. He founded the first open martial arts academy in New Jersey.

He has since advanced to Tenth Dan, the highest rank possible. He has also received worldwide recognition as a Grand Master of the Martial Arts. The original US Goshi-Shun Karate Dojo also taught other martial arts such as Jujutsu, and the infamous Katsugo Karate.
